It does snow in Portugal, but usually only on higher ground inland - indeed we even have our very own ski resort, called Serra da Estrela, just a 3 hour drive from Lisbon (or 2hrs from Coimbra / 2.5hrs from Porto).
It snows in Lisbon, on average, once every 50 years or so, and in the Algarve, it has snowed once, in 1954, so the chances of you encountering snow in coastal Portugal is pretty slim, to say the least.

We are not bombarded with the relentless adverts and window displays that consumes much of the English-speaking world at this time of year, but the downside to this is that the selection of gifts is somewhat limited compared to back home.
If you are a big Christmas gift buyer, you may need to plan in advance and take advantage of online shopping because it isn’t always easy to find great gifts in the shops, as their stock might not even alter that much during the Christmas period.

Even just a few years ago, it was tricky to find more ‘traditional’ British & North American Christmas dinner foods and accessories, like mince pies, cranberry sauce, crackers, even whole turkeys, however now, especially if you are near the Algarve or Lisbon, there are British / foreign supermarkets which cater to this need pretty well.
The British supermarket in Portimao, Apolonia stores and the GB supermarket in Cascais are all the places you’ll want to head to to stock up.

Eating Christmas Dinner - or at least a dinner on Christmas day - in a restaurant has become slightly more common in recent years, at least in areas heavily frequented by tourists, like the Algarve and Lisbon.
If you are visiting Portugal over Christmas and don’t fancy knocking up a turkey dinner in your Airbnb oven, head for the tourist / expat areas of Albufeira, Lagos, Portimao or other resorts where there will be plenty of bars and restaurants serving up turkey.
Outside of these areas, you might have to have Indian, Chinese or hotel food, because most Portuguese restaurants will probably be closed.
